Auditions for Advancement/Promotion
AYO auditions for advancement will be held only once per year at the end of the AYO season during the month of May. AYO does not hold advancement auditions immediately prior to the AYO season (August) or during mid-season (December/January).
The Austin Youth Orchestra provides a ten-year program (grades 3 - 12) for the development and enrichment of instrumental music students in the Austin Metropolitan area. The seven separate orchestras provide developmental and accomplishment benchmarks that ensure success as the students move through the different levels of instruction and performances.
It is not unusual for a student to spend more than one year in any level orchestra, allowing ensemble and technical skills to develop.
